I was a member of the Assam & African Holdings', the Assam Company, from June 1, 1957 to August 31, 1972.
Start of service counted from June 1, 1956, upon award of accelerated seniority in 1962. Was on secondment to Macneill & Barry from 1967 to 1972. My final 5 years of time in Assam Tea were spent trying to build the new Assam Tea Corporation into a model public sector undertaking which turned out to be a dangerous gamble and where my reputation for "unblemished integrity" was a distinct handicap !
Education : Bachelor of Science, but, largely self-educated. Had 11 months' training at Tocklai Experimental Station per favour of Director, Dr. McIlroy.
